Blepharoplasty Basics
Both the upper and lower eyelids can be enhanced through surgical rejuvenation.
- Above the eye, excess eyelid skin and fat deposit can be removed for an improved look and even a broader field of vision. Incisions are made in the natural creases and folds of the upper eyelid, so scarring is practically unnoticeable.
- For the lower lids, excess fat, skin and muscle are removed as needed to smooth out the skin, reduce puffiness, and minimize the appearance of wrinkles. By using a transconjunctival approach, all incisions can be made inside the lower eyelid directly below your lashes. This approach leaves no visible scarring following surgery.
