The 3 Types of NeoGraft® Patients

I’ve been offering NeoGraft hair restoration at my San Diego-area practice for many years — and have even experienced the treatment myself. NeoGraft was a game-changer for the field of hair transplant surgery, and since its arrival I can say unequivocally that it is the best approach for many, if not all patients.

NeoGraft is an automated version of follicular unit extraction (FUE), an advanced method of hair transplantation that grafts hair harvested from the back of the head (where it is genetically programmed not to fall out) to balding areas. Manually performing FUE is a tedious, time-consuming process that can also be quite expensive.

When patients come for a hair restoration consultations at my Hair Surgery Center, I assess their specific needs and whether they can benefit from NeoGraft. In my experience, I’ve found that hair restoration surgery patients generally fall into one of 3 camps.

Men With Receding Hairlines

These patients first notice hair loss at the front of the head.  NeoGraft can restore volume to this area and re-create a full hair line that looks quite natural.

Men With Thinning Hair on Top of the Head

Thinning hair on the top of the head or scalp is less noticeable to begin with than a receding hairline. Using NeoGraft, I can fill in seamlessly those areas of hair loss, placing the hair grafts so that they mimic the normal growth trajectory of the surrounding hair. This creates a seamless result.

When you think “hair loss,” men probably come to mind first, but they’re not alone. Women experience similar types of hair loss, and NeoGraft can be just as effective for women at filling in the same areas.

More efficient, less costly, and more effective, NeoGraft has numerous advantages over follicular unit transplantation (FUT) — sometimes called the “strip” method. Most notably, unlike FUT, NeoGraft doesn’t create a linear scar on the back of the scalp. (The strip method gets its name because a strip of hair is removed from the back of the head, which then provides the follicles for transplant.) This creates a scar that is especially visible for patients who like to wear their hair short.

NeoGraft is a minimally invasive procedure that doesn’t result in any visible scarring. You can learn more about NeoGraft and hair restoration surgery by [cert] requesting a consultation [/cert] at my hair surgery center online, or by calling us at (858) 997-0096.
