Are All Coolsculpting Centers the Same?

The short answer is NO!

It is very confusing for La Jolla and San Diego patients when trying to choose a reputable CoolSculpting center from amongst those which are listed on the web. Does it really matter where I have CoolSculpting performed? Will I get the same results in any center? Should I just shop price and look for the lowest prices? In this blog, I will help you navigate the system and provide the most important guidelines when researching CoolSculpting treatments and selecting a clinic. Many of the common questions asked by patients can be found here at CoolSculpting FAQs.

Here are my guidelines for people when choosing a CoolSculpting center.

Choose a CoolSculpting center which is located within a board-certified dermatologist or plastic Surgeon’s office. CoolSculpting has been FDA approved to treat 9 anatomic areas of the body. Many patients are candidates to undergo multiple treatment areas for total body transformation and often turn to CoolSculpting instead of liposuction. Core specialists such as dermatologists and plastic surgeons are uniquely trained and qualified in the evaluation and treatment of such patients. Other doctors have also purchased CoolSculpting devices but have little to no training in aesthetics. These doctors include family physicians, eye doctors, internists, psychiatrists, and even dentists. Ask the clinic the qualifications of the physician who oversees your treatment.

Look for a Certified CoolSculpting Center. A certified facility indicates that specialized training has been completed by the technician that performs the CoolSculpting evaluation and treatment. This training is often performed at CoolSculpting University which is a nationally recognized center that provides nationwide education and certification.

Experience matters. Make sure the CoolSculpting technician specialist in the clinic who is performing the procedure has extensive experience. For example, our CoolSculpting technician has been performing these treatments since 2010 and has literally performed over 24,000 treatments on over 6,000 patients. Those centers which have such experienced CoolSculpting technicians will result in more consistent and effective treatment outcomes.

Review the practice website. Make certain the practice’s website contains many before and after photos of all areas of the body where CoolSculpting is used. Be cautious of practices that use stock photos from the CoolSculpting main website versus their own cases as they may have limited experience with CoolSculpting. For example, our photo gallery has well over 50 of our patients who have undergone CoolSculpting all over the body.

If you are considering CoolSculpting, please feel free to visit our website for more information or call our practice in La Jolla at (858) 623-6333 for a complimentary aesthetic analysis and to see what CoolSculpting has to offer.
