ASK THE DOCTOR: MOMMY MAKEOVER

TODAY’S QUESTIONS ARE ON MOMMY MAKEOVER

Mommy Makeover with BBL. Achievable?

Hi and thanks for your questions. Your goals are achievable but best determined by a personal consultation with a local, board certified plastic surgeon. At the consult your plastic surgeon will take a detailed history and perform a thorough examination of your areas of concern. The pictures you submitted were helpful but no one on this or any other website can really give you medical advice without actually examining you.

Make sure your surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. There are other physicians called “cosmetic surgeons” who are not trained in plastic surgery and do not have hospital privileges to admit you in case there are complications. Feel free to look at the web reference below for more information.

That’s my best advice after decades in practice! Best of luck.

Augmentation or lift? Can either of these be done at the same time as abdominoplasty?

Hi and thanks for your questions. Yes, augmentation and breast lift are commonly performed at the same time as an abdominoplasty. If your surgeon recommends weight loss before surgery, then I would take your surgeon’s advice. Make sure your surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Good luck.

Breast augmentation option for wide set breasts. Will it be beneficial in my case?

HI and thanks for your question. Breast augmentation will add volume to your breasts but not change their position on the chest wall. Make sure you have this discussion with your board certified plastic surgeon who is the only one who has examined you and can make the best recommendation. Good luck.

What surgery or surgeries would you recommend for me?

Hi and thanks for your question. From the photos it appears you would be an excellent candidate for a breast lift with augmentation and a tummy tuck. After 30 years performing aesthetic plastic surgery, I would recommend you see a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Good luck.

How long, on average, does it take to heal after a mommy makeover?

Hi and thanks for your question. It really depends upon what procedures are performed but also how you heal and recover from surgery. In 30 plus years of aesthetic plastic surgery, my best advice is to see a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Best of luck!

What procedures do you get for a mommy’s make-over?

Hi and thanks for your question. It isn’t possible for anyone to provide an accurate estimate of the costs of the procedures you require without a personal consultation and examination. My best advice for patients after 30 years practicing aesthetic plastic surgery is for you to see a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery with many years of personal experience inaesthetic surgery. Best of luck.

Surgery in a different state?

I am looking to get a Mommy Makeover June, 2016 in Miami. I live in California and the prices are really high, I also have not seen any results I am particularly enthusiastic about. I am looking to get a tummy tuck, lipo, breast lift, and implants. My question is aftercare. I’m planning on staying in Miami for 12 nights. Is that enough time? The surgeon does offer free follow ups for 1 year, but I don’t want to have to fly to Miami every week. Is it hard to find post surgical aftercare

Hi and thanks for your question. I would not recommend undergoing elective surgery in a far away state. If you have any delayed or late complications or need revision surgery, then you are a long way from your surgeon. There are many excellent plastic surgeons in your home state of California! Best of luck

How soon after Gallbladder removal surgery can I have my Tummy Tuck, Breast Augmentation?

Hi and thanks for your question. I would ask your general surgeon this question. In general, a tummy tuck can be performed several weeks following an endoscopic technique to remove your gall bladder provided there are no complications. Endoscopic surgery has allowed most patients to undergo elective aesthetic surgery of the abdomen since the surgical scars are minimal. Best of luck.

I’m interested in the Mommy Makeover and Brazilian Butt Lift. is it possible to get them done all at once?

Hi Sydney. Yes, it is possible to have both of these procedures performed at the same time. It is quite common and will save you money as well as two versus one recoveries. Please make sure your surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Good luck!

Any recommendation on Vitamins, Supplements, Diet prior to Mommy MakeOver (TT with Breast reduction) to help with healing?

I have lost over 100lbs through diet / exercise and finally booked my surgery for Jan. 2015. I am a smoker of 20+ years and know I need to quit now and will do so October 1st. I am committed to be quite for at least 3 months prior or I will reschedule. I would like to best prepare myself for the recovery in all ways possible so are there vitamins, supplements, or diet that may help recovery? Also, what are the best creams to help with scars? Anything else I can do now? Thanks for any advice.

Hi and thanks for your question. I would certainly check with your plastic surgeon and make sure you follow his/her specific protocol. It is imperative that you do discontinue smoking several months preoperatively but also avoid any nicotine products which aid one quitting smoking as they are also deleterious to wound healing. It is also best to avoid the use of vitamins like Vitamin E, fish oil, and all other supplements at least 3 weeks before surgery. The best diet is one which is balanced and high in protein. Just make sure to follow your surgeon’s preoperative protocol and recommendations. Best of luck!
