There are many types of liposuction techniques, all of which yield very good results in competent hands. I would focus on who does your liposuction procedure versus the technique. Competence in aesthetic surgery depends upon many factors including training and experience. Safety is the most important concern in any surgical procedure, especially one which is elective. Make sure your surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of ASPS and ASAPS. Members of these two societies must follow strict ethical guidelines and place safety above all else for patients. Blood transfusions for elective procedures are quite rare. I cannot imagine asking a patient to purchase blood in the setting of elective surgery. If the surgery is too extensive or prolonged then it can be staged so your risks are minimized. That’s my advice after decades performing elective aesthetic surgery.
